Pupils achieve on average almost one grade higher at GCSE than their already significant baseline ability would suggest. At A level their value-added score is approximately half a grade higher with a quarter of all results a grade higher.
In 2024 we were ranked by the Sunday Times Parent Power League as the top school in Hampshire for A-Level results and in the top 5 girls-only boarding schools for A-Level and GCSE results combined.
A-Levels
In 2025, 35% of all A-Level grades were A* while 70% were graded A*/A - our strongest set of A-Levels results in a non-pandemic year. 91% of A Levels were A* to B while 65% of the year group earned grades AAA and above and 17% achieved three or more A* grades.
The Class of 2025 have been accepted into prestigious universities including Bath, Bristol, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, Imperial College, King's College, LSE, St Andrews, York, UCL and Warwick.
For a fourth year in a row over 10% of students earned places at the universities of Cambridge or Oxford, a school achievement not matched for at least 20 years.
GCSE
In 2025, 36% of grades were Grade 9, an uplift of 6% on the previous year and 60% of grades were 9/8/A* with 77% being 7/A and above.
This year saw St Swithun’s students take an average of 9.7 GCSEs each. 56% of the cohort earned six or more 9/8/A* grades and over a quarter of the year group gained nine or more 9/8/A* grades. 11 students achieved straight 9/8/A* grades, three of whom gained all 9s.
