Pupils achieve on average almost one grade higher at GCSE than their already significant baseline ability would suggest. At A level their value-added score is approximately half a grade higher with a quarter of all results a grade higher.
A-Levels
St Swithun’s students delivered another outstanding set of results in 2026, with 94% of grades awarded at A*-B, the highest non-pandemic figure since 2013. Overall, 68% of grades were A* or A, including 27% at A*. Three quarters of students achieved AAB or above, 62% secured AAA or higher, and 57% gained at least one A*.
The Class of 2026 have been accepted into prestigious universities including the UK and abroad including Chicago, Durham, Edinburgh, Imperial College, King's College, LSE, St Andrews, UCL and Warwick.
For a fourth year in a row over 10% of students earned places at the universities of Cambridge or Oxford, a school achievement not matched for at least 20 years.
GCSE
In 2025, 37% of grades were Grade 9, an uplift of 7% on the previous year and 60% of grades were 9/8/A* with 77% being 7/A and above.
This year saw St Swithun’s students take an average of 9.7 GCSEs each. 56% of the cohort earned six or more 9/8/A* grades and over a quarter of the year group gained nine or more 9/8/A* grades. 11 students achieved straight 9/8/A* grades, three of whom gained all 9s.
