St Swithun’s students walk fire to raise funds for charity

Last week, students and staff at St Swithun’s School took on an evening of challenges to support the schools own Bramston Foundation’s Building Active Lives campaign alongside the three school charities.

Students walked across hot coals to raise money and awareness in an event ran by The Fire Walk Experience.

The fire walk was an inspiring event, demonstrating the student’s commitment to making a positive difference in the world and pushing themselves out of their comfort zones. The participants were cheered on by family, friends and teachers.

Not content with just walking fire, students and staff walked across glass and a number also learnt to break arrows with the necks.

The event was a tremendous success with over £5,000 raised before gift aid. Director of Sport Jon Riley and Head of Prep Sport Kat Shoesmith raised £2,500 for the Building Active Lives campaign while students amassed £2,600.

The fire walk is one example of how St Swithun’s is committed to supporting charitable causes and making a positive impact on the world. The school provides its students with the tools and skills they need to make a real difference in the world, and events like these are a testament to that commitment.
