Why choose St Swithun’s Year 3 Prep for your child?

Why choose St Swithun’s Year 3 Prep for your child?
in Preschool, Pre-Prep & Prep

Year 3 is a popular entry point for girls to St Swithun’s Prep. At this stage formal work increases as children develop a desire to learn and accept more responsibility for their time and their own learning. At St Swithun’s Prep we offer a diverse range of opportunities led by specialist subject experts every week, giving the girls the broadest possible range of experiences. Subjects studied include modern foreign languages, art, music and drama, swimming and digital skills, in addition to English, mathematics, science, technology, history, geography and RE. Girls participate in a wide range of sports including girls’ football, cricket, netball and lacrosse.

Pastoral care is extremely important to us and is provided by experienced primary practitioners. Our girls feel safe and secure, allowing their confidence and talents to grow and flourish.

From year 3 the girls have the opportunity to practise democracy in action as part of a whole school democratic citizenship programme. Collaborating with representatives from all year groups and members of staff, they can be a powerful voice in, for example, the charity committee for the benefit of the school community and broader society.

We want all our pupils to attain high performance both inside and outside the classroom. Accredited for the work we do to teach the attitudes, characteristics and behaviours of successful people, we are a High Performance Learning World Class School. This philosophy is embedded across the curriculum and all areas of school life. It systematically teaches even the youngest of pupils the skills and behaviours that will enable them to achieve the best they can during their time at school and equip them to succeed in the next stage of their education.
