Hetty Neish L6 writes: We started Hybrid (our company) to gain an insight into the business world and the invaluable lessons of working in a team.
We began by providing hoodies for the school autumn production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. We sold 34 hoodies to the cast, crew and band, making a decent profit. Boosted by our success we decided to target the Christmas market and sell candy canes to the school. A feature of the canes enabled people to write messages to their friends. These were a huge success and we sold nearly 400.
Next we decided that providing tea towels for the junior school would be an appropriate idea as some of us had had experience from our own junior schools and knew that the tea towels were popular items. In the end we sold 172 tea towels and made a good profit on these too.
Our overall profit minus taxes will go to help our sister school St Katharine’s in Uganda. We have learnt a huge amount from being part of this scheme and would highly recommend anyone thinking about joining next year to give it a go.
