St Swithun’s art department held a busy private view last week exhibiting pieces from every girl in L4, U4 and L5. The school gallery was awash with colourful work in a variety of media inspired by the study of different cultures. In L4 the focus has been on the Aztecs and the girls have used clay and casting techniques as well as drawing and painting. U4 have been studying Islamic pattern making and their trip to the Ashmolean museum in Oxford has informed their work. L5 have been looking at Aboriginal art forms and Indian pattern making, using a broad range of techniques from silk painting to clay and large scale banner making.
