Berkhamsted tournament lacrosse wins

U13A Division 2 winners

St Swithun's lacrosse teams competed in the 8-a-side tournaments at Berkhamsted at the end of September.

The U13A team started the morning well with wins over St Albans High School 2-0 and St George’s Harpenden 8-0. They met their match in the final morning game and due to missed shooting opportunities lost 5-1 to a very strong Bedford High School.

The team qualified for Division 2 where they went on to draw 3-3 with Godstowe, beat Packwood 3-1 and Queen Margaret’s 2-1. This success meant they were overall Division 2 winners.

Congratulation to the whole team but especially to Kassie Williams for player of the tournament and Flora Toyne Sewell for highest goal scorer.

The U12 team had a superb day at Berkhamsted.  They won three out of four matches in the morning, beating Wally Hall 6-0; St Georges A 3-0; St Albans 6-0 and lost to a very strong team from Godstowe 3-0.  This put them in the top division for the afternoon where they lost their first match 4-0 but picked themselves up and won the next match 3-2 and drew the next match 3-3.

The team improved enormously throughout the day and the last match saw them play a very exciting game against Godstowe again (the eventual tournament winners) and this time the team managed a hard fought 1-1 draw.  This draw resulted in the U12 team coming 4th overall in their age group which is a fantastic achievement, especially so early in the season!
