Activities – Weekend Life at School

Weekend Activities

As a full boarding school as well as a weekly boarding and day school, St Swithun's is an active community seven-days-a-week. Leisure activities are co-ordinated by a member of staff who makes the most of the School's splendid position geographically and provides an exciting and varied programme for weekends. Day girls as well as boarders are entirely free to participate. Examples of activities are sailing and skiing for the sport enthusiast and theatre, concert, cinema and restaurant trips for all. In addition, the sports hall, music school, ICT room and art department are open to pupils.

Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

Girls are encouraged to participate in this scheme, which seeks to develop self-confidence and social conscience through a programme of service, skill, recreation and expeditions. Girls of fourteen or fifteen years old start at Bronze level and may continue to Silver and Gold levels. Programmes are available to suit each individual. Parents often help with the scheme and have found, like the girls and staff, that involvement can prove very enjoyable.
