U9 netball success against Prince’s Mead

U9 A team

The A team began their match with gusto and maintained great focus throughout the game.  Amelia had to work extremely hard to move in front and jump high against a tall, strong centre who was subsequently named as Prince’s Mead’s player of the match.  Isabella R and Iona moved well to create space in which to receive the pass, and Bea was an absolute star as goal shooter.  When the ball did venture into Prince’s Mead’s attacking third, both Alice L and Natasha were ready to pounce, ably assisted by Sianna and Alice C.  It was a brilliant team effort but Bea must be credited with a very special mention.  She has been prepared to put in additional hours of individual shooting practice to ensure those vital goals were scored for the success of the whole team.  Well done girls on such a magnificent 12-0 victory.

U9 B team

U9B team were leading 2 – 0 by the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw our defenders having to work harder and Annabel Yeatman did a fantastic job of intercepting the ball every time Prince’s Mead showed any sign of shooting.

Daisy Elkington has been working hard on strengthening her passes and it has certainly paid off.  The third quarter saw Daisy’s huge throws quickly move the ball back down to the shooters, enabling Clemmie Lawlor to score twice, putting St Swithun’s Juniors  4 – 0 up.

Annabel and Sophie started the fourth quarter off with some fantastic defending and soon the ball was back in our possession. Charlotte Joy showed good speed and agility around the court and worked well with Isabella Alexander to keep the ball moving down to the shooters.  This enabled Emilia to have two more shots at goal taking the final total to 6 – 0 to St Swithun's .‘Player of the match’ was awarded to Annabel Yeatman for her ferocious defending and accurate throwing and passing.
