On Thursday 7th February the U9A netball team played Sherborne House. Their games against Sherborne are always incredibly close and hard-fought, with the last match going to Sherborne.
St Swithun’s girls were determined to do their best and the first quarter was incredibly close with one goal each. During the second quarter St Swithun’s struggled to score and our defenders were put to the test, with the half-time score at 4-1 to Sherborne. After a reshuffle of positions and a critical team talk, St Swithun’s was back in the game and scored three goals to Sherborne’s two. At the end of the third quarter, however, St Swithun’s was still trailing 4-6.
The final quarter saw the girls work incredibly hard to gain and maintain possession of the ball and then convert their passes into goals. When the final whistle blew the score was 6 all, showing how well the girls had fought back to level the match.
Bea Watson was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for excellent attacking and shooting, and Natasha Pillai for determined defending.
