The Lower School Summer Concert gave an opportunity to many of our young singers and instrumentalists to entertain us in Harvey Hall, and in groups and solo items they did exactly that, in style. They proved again what bright prospects there are for the future. Wind Band, St Swithun’s Players, Clarinet and Saxophone Ensembles provided the loudest moments, but the finale of ‘Songs of Summer’, presented by the choir (Phoenix) with colourful lighting and costumes, rounded off a delightful concert with real ebullience and fizz. The seasonal medley had something for everyone: Beatles, Kinks, Grease, Gershwin, Bill Withers and Eddie Cochran. Summer was well and truly ‘cummen in’ despite the rainy weather that followed over half-term.
