Activities – Sport

St Swithun's boasts excellent sporting facilities that enable girls to participate in a wide range of team, individual and minority sports. The emphasis is on enjoyment and the development of a healthy, active life, but all pupils receive expert coaching and the most talented individuals and teams are entered into County, Regional and National competitions.  Girls have the opportunity to represent their County and Region as well as attending National Squad training, particularly in lacrosse.

The multi-purpose, modern Sports Hall accommodates a fully-equipped gymnasium, which in turn can be converted into 4 badminton courts, a netball, volleyball or tennis court. There is also a mezzanine floor that provides further space for fitness equipment, aerobics and table tennis.

Extensive and attractive playing fields provide a number of lacrosse pitches, an athletics track, rounders pitches and volleyball courts and there are 12 outdoor tennis courts (4 of which are spot-lit) which are also used for netball. Squash, rowing, golf, judo, karate, aerobics, yoga, trampolining and fencing are popular additional activities.

The School has a magnificent indoor, 25-metre swimming pool, built to national competition specifications, with diving boards. Alongside this, there is a learners' pool.
