Pastoral – School and Community

St Swithuns community projects

There is a strong tradition in the School of service to the community. This is directed by a committee of girls and there are opportunities for volunteers to do community work in Winchester, including visiting elderly people, hospitals, schools and almshouses, and working with local charities. Pupils take part in a wide range of fund-raising ventures including walks, swims and sponsored events.

There is a very active Amnesty International Group in School run by the Sixth Form. This encourages members of the School to reflect on issues concerning freedom and justice. The Sixth Form also runs the Green Society that aims to raise awareness of environmental issues.

In all these activities, pupils learn the rewards of commitment and service, often discovering new depths and talents in themselves.
