Pupils benefit from drama workshop with Winchester University theatre company

St Swithun's welcomed  the Knockout Theatre Company from Winchester University this term who held a workshop and performance for all pupils in U4 and L5 and drama students in M5. The event was held in the school's 500-seat performing arts centre.

The benefits of this style of theatre-in-education workshop are that it allows pupils to understand drama in greater depth and gives them the confidence to be more inquisitive about the plot, perfomance and dramatic techniques used.

As the focus of the day was a piece entitled ‘Tenia’s War’ (a powerful and thought provoking production about children enlisted as soldiers), pupils were able to empathize and relate to this, making the experience a far more meaningful one.
