Maths Inspiration

St Swithun’s hosted a “Maths Inspiration” event on the 20th March.  The performing arts centre Harvey Hall was packed to the rafters with students from schools and colleges from a wide area, as well as over 100 girls from U5 to U6, to hear talks by three highly entertaining speakers.

The ‘Stand-up mathematician’ Matt Parker, from the University of London, delighted the audience with his wit whilst discussing the mathematics behind the technology we take for granted.

Chris Budd, from the University of Bath, addressed the issue of global warming from a mathematical standpoint and Rob Eastaway, director of Maths Inspiration, examined the link between mathematics and psychology.

Inspiring and enjoyable, what more could you want to finish off the mathematics term?
