Our school is divided into three sections:
- The early years' foundation stage, comprising the nursery and reception classes. In 2008, OFSTED graded our early years' foundation stage ‘outstanding’
- Key stage 1, comprising Y1 and Y2. The early years' foundation stage and key stage 1 together are called the pre-prep.
- Key stage 2 or the prep department which comprises Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6
Children are accepted into the nursery from the September following their third birthday. Girls remain until they are 11 and are prepared for entrance examinations, including Common Entrance, to a variety of independent senior schools including St. Swithun’s. Boys stay with us throughout the pre-prep, leaving when they are seven at the end of Y2, by which time they are well prepared for the next stage in their education at local preparatory schools.
