Extra Curricular
We are a non-selective school and value all children as individuals. As such children for any number of reasons may have need of extra support in the short or long term and therefore we have a specialist Curriculum Support teacher who gives additional help, on an individual basis and in groups, to those children who benefit from it. Programmes of work are carefully tailored to individual needs.
Visits
Frequently, educational and cultural visits are arranged to add depth and first-hand experience to classroom learning and we welcome speakers on a range of subjects. Girls in their final two years are offered the opportunity of residential field study trips when they combine the experience of studying in a different environment with that of living together for one week.
Homework
We feel that children are able to accept a degree of responsibility for their own learning, and the discipline of simple time management. They are encouraged to read regularly and widely in their free time.In the Pre-Prep Department pupils have reading books to share at home. Year 1 children take home spellings to learn, and Year 2 children also take home maths activities.
Homework is regularly set for children in the Prep Department. The amount set increases gradually as the children mature, but it is not intended that homework should prevent them from pursuing other interests outside school or, indeed, enjoying family life.
