Independent Schools Ski and Snowboard Championships

The St Swithun’s ski team attended the Basecamp Independent Schools Ski and Snowboard Championships at Les Deux Alpes, France in December.  Focusing on fun, the event is aimed at preparing skiers for racing and learning new skills. Two days of race training were followed by two days of competition, consisting of giant slalom, slalom and the team event parallel slalom.

The 14 team members and staff were joined by five other schools at the Championships. Snow conditions were superb and all the girls skied with courage and boundless enthusiasm.
Coco Vulliamy Taylor L5 finished 3rd overall in the giant slalom and 4th overall in the slalom.

The A team in the parallel slalom, which featured Coco Vulliamy-Taylor, Georgia Tice L6, Virginia Georgulas Kollakis M5, Kitty Stacpoole L6 and Cassie Trend L6, reached the knockout stage of the team event and were eventually beaten by a team of boys from Ardingly School.
