Four girls from Year 6 travelled with teachers Mr Marshall and Mrs Garside to the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham to compete in the IAPS National Prep School Athletics Championships.
The girls were all members of the U12 4 x 100 m relay team. Alla Garside also ran the 800m. Several parents had also travelled up to support the girls.
We knew the girls would have to run their fastest time to even stand a chance of getting into the final but everyone had been working hard since qualifying for the event. In their relay heat they ran a new PB of 59.69. They finished second in the heat and qualified for the final.
In the final the girls gave it their all and finished 6th in the country.
Alla Garside ran a new PB in the 800m of 2:37 winning her heat by a distance. Unfortunately the final was very competitive and Alla eventually finished 4th in the country. A great achievement.
A huge well done to the girls. They have worked so hard and we are so pleased they did so well at the Nationals.
