We recently welcomed Senior Education Advisor Mr Dominic Moon from the UK Boarding Schools Guide to St Swithun’s. Dominic has written enthusiastically about St Swithun’s and his comments were:
‘The schools academic excellence is clear to all when scrutinising the league tables but this is not the be all and end all. Pupils are encouraged to do something else, to try new things and to make mistakes! As you would expect with a high performing school the facilities are excellent and these girls really do enjoy spending time at the school. Ali Bentall (2011/2012 headgirl) said the food was amazing.....better than at home. This might say more about her mums cooking than it does about the schools but I did enjoy chicken and leek on a bed of sweet potato. Full or weekly boarding is on offer and the boarding houses are lovely. There was one male resident in the boarding house - BEN the dog who was very pleased to see me and no doubt adds to the smiles the girls are already sporting. If looking for a girls' boarding school then this one is definitely worth a visit as it ticks all the boxes!’
The Good Schools Guide 2012 has also recently been published, describing St Swithun’s as
‘Weekly boarding specialists’ with ‘incredible exam results, up in the dizzying thin air at the top of the league tables. How a relatively unselective school like this one manages it is mysterious and must drive the London hothouses …around the bend’.
In addition to the guide, the GSG also provides a website subscription service for parents. More information can be found here.
In addition the school has welcomed Georgina Blackwell from Tatler magazine who is currently writing the Tatler’s Schools 2013 Guide. Our previous entry is here and we look forward to the publication of this year’s guide.
