On Monday evening, three U5 girls travelled to Bishop Wordsworth’s Boys Grammar School in Salisbury to take part in the English-Speaking Union Public Speaking Competition.
Delphine Legat, team speaker, presented a powerfully eloquent speech on the motion: ‘The sole purpose of education is to prepare children for the world of work’.
Rebeka Batty, team questioner, assertively interrogated a speaker from the opposition on the necessity of the British monarchy. Lottie Jones, team chairperson, hosted the event with real confidence and warmth.
The team’s skills gained them third place in the competition, narrowly missing a place in the South West regional finals, but an excellent result to be proud of.
