This week it was Y4’s turn to leave their parents home alone as they headed off on their three day residential to Oakwood Youth Challenge. They set off on Wednesday morning in high-spirits and arrived just before midday where the fun began in earnest.
Upon arrival the girls quickly found out who they’d be sharing dorms with before enjoying a picnic lunch in the sunshine and a grand tour of the site where they’d be making their home for the next few days.
Their first day continued with team-building exercises on the low ropes course and testing their courage on the famous ‘flying kiwi’ which involved the whole group pulling on bungee ropes with all their strength to propel one volunteer skywards. The girls played football, danced and rounded off their first evening with a pyjama party and movie night.
Next day the activities continued in the afternoon with crate stacking challenges and a chance to tackle their fear of heights with a heroic traversal over the high ropes course!
Y4 ended their final evening with a traditional camp-fire including a drink of hot chocolate, toasted marshmallows, sing-alongs and the chance to share some of their favourite memories of their time at Oakwood. They returned to school this afternoon tired but excited to share their adventures with all of their parents.
