Last weekend our U13A netball team travelled to Condover Hall in Shrewsbury for the GSA tournament. They played six matches on Saturday with only one loss against St Paul’s Girls School. The standard was incredibly high and the girls played well beating Walthamstow Hall, Loughborough High, St Mary’s, Newcastle High and Abbots Bromley. St Swithun’s got through to the top division on the Sunday, playing on the indoor courts with the ex-England captain watching. They played their best netball, perhaps inspired by the audience and words of advice from the England players. They had two out of three wins, beating Berkhamsted and Withington Girls School. The girls narrowly missed out on a place in the semi-finals, by only one goal on goal difference.
In addition to the tournament, the girls were able to make use of the residential centre's outdoor activities available and took part in body zorbing, tunnelling, high ropes and the vortex. Despite missing out on the semis, fun was had by all and the girls were excellent ambassadors for the school with both their performance and attitude.
Player of the tournament was awarded to Grace Walton U4.
