Lara Jungbeck L6 writes: In mid-April St Swithun`s hosted a debate against 12 boys and girls from Kings’ School Winchester. The competition involved four teams each consisting of three speakers from Year 10, debating the motion “This house would ban music containing lyrics that glorify violence”. All debates were judged by some of the more experienced U5 girls, who kindly volunteered to do so. Although St Swithun`s girls stood firm against Kings’ School, their relative lack of experience unfortunately led to the defeat of all St Swithun’s teams. However, a repeat fixture with Kings’ School before the end of term is already being organised to even the score.
