Uncovering portraiture

As part of an art department self-portrait project L4 visited the National Portrait Gallery in London last week. This trip was to begin their understanding of the way portraits and self-portraits have been created throughout the ages, to broaden their understanding of technique and to uncover the hidden meanings of symbols within portraits. The girls took part in workshops with a museum educator and were given the opportunity to discuss and unravel very different types of portrait.
