U8 netball v Prince's Mead

The U8’s had their first 7-a-side matches for St Swithun’s on Thursday.

The girls were very excited as this was their first away match…ever!

The girls were a delight to take away and the match was an exciting one, with lots of mid court play, but our shooters managed to score the goals that made the difference and the team won 3 – 0.We passed the ball well into space and defended aggressively to win the ball back.

Player of the match chosen by Prince’s Mead was Josephine Werner who linked the play up brilliantly and marshalled the team well.
I would also like to mention Amelia Payne for her tenacious defending and Eleanor Scougall who in the first quarter was on fire as GS.

The girls all deserve a heap of praise as it was a real team performance.

The girls were excited to be playing in their first ever 7-a-side fixture. Our players were Alice Elkington (captain), Sophie Seifert, Sofia Kavokin, Mia Goodale, Anya Pillai, Olivia Pickard and Clemmie Foster. Both teams made a good start and at half time the score was a very even 1-1. In the second half our girls realised they needed to mark their partners really tightly and despite some excellent play Prince's Mead managed to pull ahead. The final score was 2-1 to Princes Mead. Congratulations to all the girls who played and a special mention to Sofia Kavokin who was awarded player of the match by Princes Mead.
