The U11A rounders team played Meoncross on Wednesday 14th May. St Swithun’s lost the toss of the coin and batted first. St Swithun's batting in the first innings was not very strong; only three girls gained half, or full rounders, resulting in just three rounders. Meoncross then went in to bat. As a result of some very impressive fielding by St Swithun’s, especially between the backstop and first post teamwork of Florence Goodhand and Aggie Waldron, five of the Meoncross girls were either caught or stumped out at a post. Meoncross were, therefore, limited to just two rounders in their first innings. The second innings saw a vastly improved St Swithun’s batting team. The girls really attacked the ball and hit with great gusto, resulting in a magnificent eleven rounders scored in this half of the match. St Swithun’s continued to field well in Meoncross’ second innings, allowing them to score just three and a half rounders.
The final result was: St Swithun’s 14 Meoncross 5½
A huge “Well done” to all the girls on their vastly improved batting and to Aggie Waldron, who was voted player of the match by the Meoncross girls, for her excellent batting and fielding at backstop.
