On Wednesday 25th September the U10A Team played in the Farleigh netball tournament.
The girls had a tough section facing PGS A, West Hill Park A, Twyford A and Prince's Mead A. The girls warmed up with enthusiasm and concentrated hard as they knew they had to play well in such a hard draw. During the tournament our defensive play was excellent; Natasha Pillai read the play beautifully and marked her opponents tightly. Alice Claisse was solid as WD and Melissa Trant and Annabel Yeatman interchanged as GK throughout the tournament both adding their strengths to the team. Iona Morley and Bea Watson also interchanged as GA and GS and worked hard to get free in our attacking circle to score those all important goals.
The girls worked well as a team and realised the importance of spreading out along the court giving each other space into which they could then receive the ball. The team’s work rate was great and after their section was completed the results were:
West hill Park A won 4-1
PGS A drew 0-0
Prince's Mead A won 2-0
Twyford A lost 0-4
The girls were excited as they had qualified for the semi-finals and were to play Cheam. During the semi-finals Amelia Bruce gave her all, defending and attacking in her role as centre, however, despite a valiant effort the final score was 1-3 to Cheam preventing us going through to the final.
Player of the tournament was awarded to Isabella Robertson who worked so hard, never gave up and was an awesome WA.
Well done to all the team.
