Serena Lim U5 writes: In mid-November, as part of our leadership day, the U5 listened to keynote speaker, former RAF pilot Mandy Hickson, who introduced the theme we focused on throughout the day; ‘The impact of the individual’.
Head of development and former army officer Mrs Boryer also spoke about the key qualities which make a good leader, before forms were split into groups to create and deliver presentations on leading figures in society.
We went on in groups to attempt seemingly impossible tasks, such as ‘transporting explosive chemicals’ across precariously assembled benches. However, the highlight of the day had to be the inflatable slide, the only access to which was via a seven metre high web of elasticated platforms.
The day was a big success with the U5 taking away important life skills and greater self-awareness of the impact an individual can make from such a positive experience.
