Talking their way to the top

Alex Kalisperas, Alice Yip and Becky Dunn, all U5, took part in the English Speaking Union Public Speaking Competition on 11 November. Alex was the speaker, who delivered a passionate, moving and eloquent speech on the motion In democracies minorities are never safe, that captured the audience.

Becky was the chairman who warmly and confidently hosted one of the other school’s (Bournemouth School for Girls) speakers on the topic Immigration is changing Britain for the better.

Alice Yip authoritatively and convincingly questioned the same speaker raising thought-provoking notions that engaged further debate from the floor.

Due to the girls’ success, they will be participating in the regional final at Bishop Wordsworth’s School in Salisbury on Friday 17 January.
