Year 6 netballers from St Swithun’s Junior School, Winchester have reached the finals of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) national netball competition. The final, which takes place in Basildon on Friday, will see 40 teams from across the country battle it out for the national title.
The team of eight from St Swithun’s won through to the nationals after a successful campaign at the regional finals at Port Regis School earlier this week. Following a nail-biting quarter final against The Marist School, which they came back from 4-2 down at half time to win, the St Swithun’s team pushed through to qualify.
Head of games at St Swithun’s Junior School, Roger Marshall said ‘We are delighted that our U11 girls will be attending the finals. They have been dreaming about this opportunity for three years and it is so satisfying to see them finally achieve it’.
