The musical year began with a fantastic set of performances by this year’s music scholars and exhibitioners. This year there are twenty-four girls in the school who hold these awards, in recognition of their musical talent and they were well supported by their friends and family in Harvey Hall. The new scholars (Kirstie Kwakye L4, Jenny Yang L4, Eleanor Holmes L4, Clara Akerman L5, Kate Wimbush L5 and Lucy Kennett L6) all performed admirably in their debut concert. The musical programme featured a wide variety of instruments including notably a multi-percussion ensemble piece performed by Denise Yuen U6 which featured wood blocks, cowbell and cymbals representing the conflict between a soldier and the devil. The concert was also the first opportunity to hear this year’s music performance award holder: Jasmine Stringer U5 gave an accomplished performance of Widor’s Romance on the flute.
