Rounders against PGS

It is always a pleasure to welcome Portsmouth Grammar School to St Swithun’s and this week some of our Year 3 and 4 girls welcomed them for some rounders fixtures.

We had two groups of Year 3 girls out playing with the U8 A team making a huge improvement between their first and second innings but just came up short. There was some fantastic fielding with a number of catches, with Theya Dare-Bryan making the highlight reel with an outstanding catch as backstop.

The second group of U8 girls enjoyed some mix in games with the PGS girls to give them some more experience of rounders and match afternoons and it looked like they enjoyed the

The U9 A team enjoyed a great match with PGS shutting them out completely in their second innings to win by a few rounders. Again the girls grew into the game and made some great fielding decisions. The U9 B team only lost by 1½ rounders with some energetic play from a number of players.

U8 Mix : Ileanna Porter and Lois Macdonald for their fine play.
U9 A : Immy Watson for her field-ing and decisions making and Emilia Richards for her batting display.
U9 B : Cleo Kent for her decisions and catching and Rachel Bollard for her understanding and awareness.
