Welcome to the OGA

Your association continues to grow and develop apace:  Old Girls are to be found almost everywhere around the world with nearly 1000 opening ChainMail (our bi-monthly exchange of news and reminiscences) from destinations as diverse as Canada, USA, Chile, New Zealand, Tasmania, Australia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Zambia, Quatar, Eqypt, Turkey, Italy, Hungary, Greece, Spain, France, Netherlands, Germany, Peru and Norway.  News updates from these far-flung friends make for fascinating reading so if you would like to receive ChainMail please do contact the OGA office at oga@stswithuns.com.

Closer to home, we have enjoyed reunion gatherings in London and school visits from Old Girls. You are always welcome at St Swithun’s or to join in with the school’s events and our services at the cathedral so do keep an eye on the school’s calendar for the latest information.

We have a thriving business club whose purpose is to provide a true old girls’ network for those progressing in, or interested in, the commercial world. There are currently over 300 members and the intention is to hold an event each term to enable Old Girls to make and nurture new contacts. The first was hosted by Lloyds TSB in the City and our Spring 2012 event by Citigate Dewe Rogerson, also in the City.

Exciting as these new ventures are, the mainstay of the association is of course the enduring support of friendships, not just those which stem from your time at school, but also those which have been offered to subsequent generations of Old Girls, either by sharing news of your families and current lives with us all, or by offering help and advice to those taking their first steps away from St Swithun’s. Your willingness to remain a part of the St Swithun’s community is very much appreciated and long may it continue.

With very best wishes
Jacqueline Sinclair-Brown (Williams) ED 1981, OGA President
