Ten girls from St Swithun’s were involved in The National Theatre Connections Festival this year and on the 28 April they took their performance of Patrick Marber’s The Musicians to The Royal and Derngate Theatre in Northampton.
The day started with a series of workshops and watching performances from other schools and youth groups. Following this the M5-U6 St Swithun’s girls performed themselves. Giving their best performance yet, the cast produced an impressively tight show. There was a playfulness and warmth to the storytelling which allowed the comedic language to shine through, for which the audience was extremely appreciative. A National Theatre director who watched the performance in Northampton stated that “The St Swithun’s cast had been on the sort of journey that National Theatre Connections is all about”. Congratulations to all those involved.
