Modern art outside the classroom

In September artists studying both art and textiles A levels visited the David Hockney 82 Portraits and 1 Still-life exhibition at the Royal Academy, The Hive installation at the V&A and the Georgia O’Keefe retrospective at the Tate modern. The trip enabled the girls to see diverse contemporary and modern art and start to put together their sketchbooks.

A few days later M5 artists visited Modern Art Oxford, where they took part in excellent workshops given by the gallery artists, based on the theme of ‘identity’. Girls went on to the Pitt Rivers Museum to look at displays of cultural identity.
