The weather was far from wonderful on Wednesday afternoon but this did not stop a hardy bunch of girls from taking to the water to compete in the SWAC Autumn Schools Regatta.
Dressed in numerous layers the junior sailors headed out onto Southampton Water for an afternoon of racing against Prince’s Mead.
The girls’ results across the four races were extremely consistent and their hard work was rewarded with St Swithun’s boats being placed second and third. Unfortunately on this occasion they couldn’t quite match the skill of the more experienced Prince’s Mead winning boat.
Congratulations go to Erin, Lula, Tacita, Izzy, Annabel and Ella on their excellent sailing but especially to the 2nd placed team of Phoebe and Eleanor and to the 3rd placed team, Katie and Manimekhla.
Teacher Kate Grosscurth said ‘I was most impressed with the standard of sailing our girls exhibited- they have come on in leaps and bounds since the last regatta. I was also delighted with their camaraderie and team spirit’.
