International bake inspiration

Eleanor Barrie U6 rose to her EPQ challenge this term in the form of a stunning cake. Here she speaks about her delicious achievement:

“The inspiration behind the cake was that I wanted to do something that linked geography and food technology together and so I made a cake with each tier being from a different country around the world. I wanted each of the countries to have a significance to me and therefore did a British fruit cake on the bottom, a Ugandan banana cake in the middle, because of the school's link to Uganda and my own visit there on a school trip, and a French Croquembouche on top because I used to live in France”.

An EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) is equivalent to half an A level. Students are able to choose their own project, which must be academically useful and related to their current course of study or future career.
