were lucky enough to take part in an Indian drumming workshop with Ranjit Shokar, giving us an opportunity to learn more about the instruments themselves and have a go at trying out some drumming techniques. It really helped us to appreciate the amount of dedication and time that goes into learning an instrument, particularly one that requires as much dexterity as the tabla (Indian drum set). Throughout the session we learned about the history of the drums, when and where they are played and some of the different rhythms that represent certain animals. We all had a fantastic time finding out more about Indian drumming and some of the culture behind it.
