Heather Jones - Housemistress
Heather Jones joined St Swithun’s in 2009 following nineteen years as housemistress at St Anne’s School, Windermere. She has a degree in Home Economics and PGCE and is currently working towards a BSA (Boarding Schools’ Association) professional development qualification. Heather teaches food tech, textiles and PSHEE at St Swithun’s and also helps out with the many drama productions.
Heather‘s interests include craft, knitting, food, wine and swimming. She also takes part in various fundraising walks. Girls in Hyde Abbey all enjoy the company of Holly, Heather’s Airedale dog, who is also resident in the house.
Philippa Sutton - Assistant Housemistress
Philippa Sutton grew up on the Isle of Wight. In 2012 after she graduated from the University of St Mark and St John, Plymouth with a BA in Coaching and Physical Education Philippa Moved back to New Zealand to work at the school she had previously been a gap student at.
Philippa moved out just after the devastating earthquake and started working in a boarding house at St Margarets College, Christchurch. This was a huge learning curve, but she fell in love with the job and stayed 4 years, becoming assistant manager in senior boarding. Philippa decided to further her career and did her PGCE equivalent in 2014 to become a PE teacher.
Having spent four years away, Philippa decided to move back to the UK in 2016 and started at St Swithun’s in September. In her spare time Philippa enjoys time with her friends, family and boyfriend Joe. She also enjoys sailing, skiing, travelling and long walks with her dogs.
