Harp recital

Last week L6 pupil and music scholar, Rachel Carver, gave an impressive solo harp recital in the Small Performance Space. Her programme took us through the history of the harp repertoire and included pieces she had played recently for her entry in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition. Her playing was mesmerising and she performed with composure and assurance in front of a large audience of parents, pupils and staff. Introducing each piece herself, Rachel gave us interesting insight into the style, history and particular musical features of her pieces. She was joined by fellow sixth formers, Amy Butterworth and Joanna Weatherley, who performed duets written for harp and soprano and harp and flute respectively.
