German translation day

In mid-June five L6 students studying A-level German were treated to a “Translation Day” at Cambridge University’s Murray Edwards College. The university’s department of German had organised a day of lectures, workshops and panel discussion on the topic of literary translation from and into German with eminent translators sharing their ideas and expertise with over 200 students and teachers from all over England. The girls even had a go at translating a piece of the famous Faust by J.W. von Goethe and gained inspiring insights into the many diverse career directions a degree in modern languages can take you.
