Fundraising groups - the power of collective giving

Over the school’s 132 year history individuals have grouped together to raise funds to support St Swithun’s.  Recent examples of our fundraising groups are our PTA, the OGA Committee, and groups of friends who are leaving.

Staff, parents and pupils have often demonstrated their gratitude towards the school by donating a gift either as an individual or as a collective when they left.  This generous philanthropy has had a positive impact on many facets of the girls’ lives.

The success of collective giving is the number of people involved.  For example, if every leaving parent were to donate their school deposit, this would fund a full bursary for a boarder for one year. If two successive Upper Sixth parents did this, this would cover a girl from a financially disadvantaged background for her whole A Level education – a truly generous and transformative gift.
