Creative local cooking

Lilla Hardman U4 and Katie Nelson U4 beat other Year 8 and 9 Hampshire school teams to compete in the regional round of the Fit2Cook Create & Cook Competition at the beginning of May at South Downs College, Waterlooville. They developed exciting menus containing local food products which impressed the judges to gain them the regional place against 37 other schools from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and Sussex. They then cooked this menu in front of the judges on the day. Lilla and Katie’s menu consisted of chalk stream hot-smoked trout, homemade tagliatelle and Hampshire asparagus followed by a chocolate bowl with local fruits and homemade raspberry sorbet. They did not progress to the final but should be very proud of their achievements.
