We offer a wide range of co-curricular activities to ensure that the children make the most of their time at St Swithun’s. We strongly believe that by offering a breadth of opportunities, we help to develop resilience, fearlessness and self-confidence - characteristics that we value greatly in our pupils.
These activities run from 4.00pm-6.00pm throughout the week and change termly. Typically they include; gymnastics, netball, rounders, swimming, tennis, dance, judo, rugby, sailing, scuba diving, dissection, gardening, art, calligraphy, cookery, touch typing and music theatre workshop.
A wider perspective
We place a great importance on pupils becoming involved in the local community and gaining an understanding of life outside the school gates. Throughout the school year, we raise both awareness of and funds for a number of charities and the children are encouraged to take the initiative and in Year 6 girls make presentations to the rest of the school on charities of their choice. We also participate in national fundraising events such as Red Nose Day, Jeans for Genes Day and Wear it Pink Day.
When 2016 leaver Georgina was asked about what she would miss most about St Swithun's Junior School she said "The jokes, the laughs and the challenges and most importantly friends".
