Extra-curricular activities

There are a wide range of extra-curricular activities for the children. These may include; gymnastics, netball, rounders, swimming, tennis, golf, judo, football, tag rugby, science, ICT, watercolour painting, calligraphy, touch typing, music theatre workshop, steel band and knitting.

There is also a breakfast club available from 7.30am for children from reception upwards and an after-school club providing care for the children in reception from 4.00 until 5.00pm and for the children in Y1 upwards from 4.00pm until 6.00pm.

A wider perspective

We place a great importance on pupils becoming involved in the local community and gaining an understanding of life outside the school gates. Throughout the school year, we raise both awareness of and funds for a number of charities and the children are involved in activities including the Clarendon Way Walk for Naomi Hospice and selling Christmas cards each year. We are also involved with the education department of Winchester Cathedral and combine with them on outreach projects involving other Winchester schools.

The children themselves are encouraged to take the initiative and in Y6 girls make presentations to the rest of the school on charities of their choice. The pupils then vote on which to support through a ‘Charity Day’ which the Y6 then organise and run in the summer term. We also participate in national fundraising events such as Red Nose Day, Jeans for Genes Day and Wear it Pink Day.
