Celebrating Shakespeare

Last Friday, marking the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, Communications and Performance students from L5 upwards performed scenes and speeches from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, Othello, Twelfth Night, Richard II and Henry V to an appreciative audience in Harvey Hall. Sonnet readings and songs from the plays as well as a venture into Shakespearian influences on the 20th century musical theatre provided a fitting, enjoyable and stimulating way of celebrating this very notable anniversary of our greatest playwright.

As one member of the appreciate audience commented afterward “Thank you so much for arranging such a fantastic production of Celebrating Shakespeare.  We thought that the girls performed to a very high level – the Bard himself would have been proud.”
