Amy Gower-Jones L6 writes: On 6th November a small group of woodwind and brass players travelled to London to play with the Band of the Coldstream Guards. The shock of leaving school at 06:45 quickly wore off in the excitement and anticipation of the day ahead. We watched the Band of the Welsh Guard perform for Changing of Guard at Wellington Barracks who, much to our delight, played a short ABBA medley at the barracks before they set off for Buckingham Palace! On their return the hard work and fun began when we were divided into groups and rehearsed a variety of music before playing together with the Coldstream Guards Band. Everybody was delighted to play some familiar pieces such as a Disney medley as well as some more obscure and challenging music. Overall, the day was an unforgettable experience and everyone has their own memories of this incredible opportunity. Thank you to all the staff and especially to Mrs Hall for organising it all!
