Mrs Greenfield writes: Last week we undertook a number of different activities in support of ‘Anti-Bullying’ week: Childline visited us and educated the children about how they can stay safe from all forms of bullying and abuse; we held a whole-school assembly where some of Year 5 performed role-plays to highlight how we can use our ‘Power for Good’ and kind words to discourage bullying in our own school; Freya Thorne-Henderson performed her own anti-bullying song that she had composed; and all the children participated in a variety of activities related to anti-bullying during their weekly PSHE lesson. There is also a display of anti-bullying material in the library with leaflets outlining tips for managing bullying for both children and their carers, which we hope will enable everyone to feel supported.
In the visit from Childline, the children were encouraged to think about who their trusted adults might be and informed of Childline’s service through the use of their mascot ‘Buddy’. The children really enjoyed meeting ‘Buddy’ and are now very excited about raising money for Childline through ‘Buddy’s Big Workout’, where they will raise sponsorship money by running as many metres as they can in 5 minutes. We will update you next week on how much the children have managed to raise! We are grateful for your ongoing support in helping the children with undertaking these activities.
