Any legacy you leave to St Swithun’s School will be exempt from inheritance tax and your bequest may take the form of cash, shares or items of property such as land or valuables. Your estate would pay Inheritance Tax at a reduced rate of 36% on some assets (instead of 40%) if 10% or more of the ‘net value’ of your estate is left to charity (https://www.gov.uk/inheritance-tax/giving-to-charity-to-reduce-an-inheritance-tax-bill). It is very simple to include a legacy to the Bramston Bursary Fund for St Swithun’s School in your Will. If you already have a Will you can add a codicil to provide for your bequest.
For information on legacies and bequests please contact the Head of Development. If you decide to leave a legacy to St Swithun’s School we would be very grateful if you would let us know. You do not need to provide the details of the legacy if you do not wish to, nor is the pledge in any way binding. It is simply a statement of your present intention that entitles membership to the 1884 Society, and helps us to plan.
