Old Girls and Friends of St Swithun’s are welcomed to a variety of events throughout the year, allowing you both to appreciate the continuing excellence offered by a St Swithun’s education, and to enjoy the opportunity to meet with like-minded alumnae. These include:

Old Girls’ Day

Alumnae and former staff are invited to spend all or part of the day at school on our annual Old Girls’ Day in September. Special anniversary years (for 2017 this will be leavers from the Year Of 1997, 1987 etc) are particularly welcome to reunite to celebrate the decades since their departure, and guests are invited to tour the school, explore the archives and share their memories over refreshments including a Pimms Reception, lunch and tea. Old Girls Days will take place on Saturday 15 September 2018.

On Location

We also arrange events in different locations to suit specific groups, so we might support London drinks, university reunions, or regional gatherings depending on the needs of our Old Girls. Let us know if you are interested in attending these events, about which you can discover more on our online network.

Special Interest Events

We are keen to expand our range of events catering to those with a special interest, for example in a sport such as lacrosse or a literary or artistic passion. Most recently Old Girls have been invited, along with other Friends of St Swithun’s, to a series of talks led by our in-house expert on art history, Katie Lintott, and an evening with our guest speaker, explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes. If you sign up to our online network you will receive details of such events, and can also let us know if there is something specific you would like us to plan.

School Events

St Swithun’s pupils continue to impress with their mastery of art, music and drama in addition to their attainment in examinations. As part of the wider community supporting the school, Old Girls are invited to many events put on by current pupils, including musical concerts, art shows and dramatic performances. We recognise that alumnae like also to attend school celebrations such as the annual Advent Service in the Cathedral, so have introduced a popular festive Advent Tea giving guests the opportunity to socialise prior to the more formal service in Winchester Cathedral.

Old Girls are warmly invited to all school productions and concerts. Full details of events are here. If you would like to attend any of these school events please contact Emma Boryer at

Friends' Events

As we expand the opportunities for Friends to support the school we are keen also to convey our thanks for the time, talent and treasure they commit. Recent events to thank Friends of St Swithun’s have included a Founders’ Day Reception and a celebratory Speech Day Breakfast.

Some of our Old Girls prefer to visit the school at their own convenience. We are happy to arrange private tours for this purpose, please contact Emma Boryer, Head of Development, if you would like to make arrangements to do so.
