In early September the 1st lacrosse team competed in the annual Berkhamsted 8-a-side tournament.
Morning play started off as expected in a fast paced style with tough competition. The draw against St Alban’s High School in the first match of the day was enough to spark a fire in the St Swithun’s team. St Swithun’s soon began working together almost effortlessly to produce further wins. The morning results placed the 1st team in the top division for afternoon play. By this point the team was feeling good and began fighting even harder for the 50/50 balls, playing patiently in attack and maintaining possession for long periods of time. Ultimately this led to the dismantling of two of the team’s fiercest competitors; LEH and Guildford. Outstanding goals came from a variety of players, and an excellent team effort in defence led to St Swithun’s winning the top division.
